Despite the war, the directions set by the owner of Kyiv CPM remain unchanged: modernization, product competitiveness, and environmental care.
Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill, owned by the Austrian Pulp Mill Holding headed by Dr. Heinz Zinner, is a full-cycle manufacturer of goods: from recycling to finished hygiene products and corrugated packaging. The company promotes an environmentally friendly approach to business on the Ukrainian market and in society.
The main tasks set by the owner for KCPM include:
- implementation of separate waste collection and sorting throughout the enterprise;
- production of environmentally friendly goods;
- minimization of waste from production processes and preparation for recycling;
- launch of educational initiatives to raise environmental awareness in local communities.
Each product of KCPM – from the economy segment to the premium class represents the idea of rational environmental management.
In 2023, at the initiative of the Supervisory Board and Dr. Heinz Zinner, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill introduced a system of separate waste collection in administrative buildings with further recycling. For almost two years, the culture of sorting has become a habit among the mill`s employees.

Recycled waste paper is the basis for Kyiv CPM`s hygiene products
The Obukhiv mill recycles about 1.000 tons of waste paper every day, while its own cardboard and paper products are fully recyclable, the mill sells the remaining film and plastic as fuel for alternative energy, and solid waste can be used as raw materials for construction materials.
The mill and its owner are committed to implementing the concept of sustainable zero-waste production.
In 2024, the Austrian investor contributed EUR 710.000 to the project for the purchasing of a shredder for metal separation and jute shredding. The equipment will allow KCPM to receive two types of recycled materials – SRF fuel and metal wire. This will minimize the load on the landfill, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the negative impact on water and land resources.

Thanks to the shredder, the production fiber waste becomes a base of fuel
The mill has already achieved a processing rate of 300 tons per month, which makes it possible to fully recycle the jute generated at the production site and refuse to transport it to a landfill. In the future, with the transition to three work shifts, the processing capacity is expected to increase to 800 tons per day.

The focus of KCPM is not only on production performance, but also on the development of environmental awareness.
In 2024, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill initiated a number of environmental and educational activities for the residents of Obukhiv. Schoolchildren of the district took part in an eco-quest and set a national record. Before the heating season, the mill supported a waste paper collection campaign by local educational institutions, the proceeds from which were used to purchase fuel for generators for lyceums in Obukhivskyi district. In addition, the mill`s employees repeatedly gathered for clean-ups, and an environmental team building event was held on the occasion of professional holiday with the support of the owner.
The manufacturer and owner are committed to implementing European standards in all areas: from product quality and safety, which are guaranteed by certification according to the requirements of international standards of the Forest Stewardship Council and FSSC, to cultivating the traditions of respect for nature.
During the war, Dr. Heinz Zinner`s team continues to invest in equipment modernization, energy efficiency and education – these areas will be priorities in 2025.
