A giant leap into the future: Kyiv CPM e-commerce packaging is transforming the postal industry

The postal service has been existed for many centuries, but if a few years ago parcels in Ukraine were sorted manually and the capacity of logistics centres was limited to a thousand orders per day, today only one innovative terminal of Nova Poshta processes up to half a million shipments daily. One of the important factors in this “transformation” was the use of new formats of Kyiv CPM commercial packaging, which speed up order processing.

Every day, Ukrainians send hundreds of thousands of parcels: these include presents to friends and relatives in other parts of the country, numerous online orders, and essential humanitarian aid cargo. All of them need to be processed, sorted, and safely transported over hundreds of kilometres. This is time-consuming and involves huge staff cost.

Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill dramatically changed the situation by the introduction of an innovative postal and e-commerce packaging format. The domestic manufacturer with Austrian investments (parent company – Pulp Mill Holding) was the first in Ukraine to implement a new design that can be assembled with just one click.

Kyiv CPM offers specialised types of postal packaging adapted to different product groups. These include packaging for cosmetics and household chemicals, small electronics, toys, books and even special packaging for glass bottles of drinks.

“To pack a parcel in an easy-box with a self-assembly bottom and PSA permanent adhesive, just a few manipulations are required, and no adhesive tape is needed. The secure fixation of the package ensures its integrity during transport, and the undamaged tear strip “Tear tape” is an indicator that only the sender and recipient have touched the contents of the parcel. The simple design and customised solutions optimise time and material costs,” says Kyiv CPM.

A convenient innovation that significantly increases the speed and productivity of order processing has already been successfully tested by the country’s leading retailers and logistics companies (Nova Poshta, Meest Poshta, EVA, Aurora, MAUDAU, and others).

Until recently, the shipment of fragile small-sized items that require particularly careful transportation remained highly risky due to the lack of proper packaging. Kyiv CPM extra solves this issue.

Customised solutions have been developed for packaging glass products which contain from 1 to 12 bottles. The stable structure of the packaging ensures the safety of fragile products during transportation without the need for additional fillers, bubble wrap or tape.  The crash test proved that the box can withstand a drop from a height without any defects and bottles remain undamaged. An extra bonus: Kyiv CPM’s offer is 100% eco-friendly, as it minimises waste of potentially hazardous materials.

Cost-effective and environmentally friendly special packaging is also available for shipping books. The process of sending orders from online bookstores is optimised because the wrapping process does not require the use of polymers. The size of the package is adapted to different thicknesses of folios or the number of books, and the contents are reliably protected from any damage during transportation.

All packaging innovations of Kyiv CPM comply with strict conditions of sorting and transportation, which mitigates customer risks, avoids potential complaints about the quality of service and increases the efficiency of postal services.

Is Kyiv CPM going to stop at the achieved results? The mill claims that new ideas are already in process. In particular, the designers are finalising new packaging forms for the food industry, which will significantly improve the future transportation and delivery of high-demand products.
