Austrian Ambassador Arad Benkö recently met with the management of Kyiv CPM.
On October 11, there were bilateral video talks between Austria and Ukraine, attended by key figures from the Austrian side, including Ambassador Arad Benkö, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KCPM and Managing Director of Pulp Mill Holding, Timur Sokolov, and Dr. Heinz Zinner, a member of the Supervisory Board and the ultimate beneficial owner of KCPM. On the Ukrainian side, Iurii Golovchenko, Chairman of the Board of the Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill, and Olha Komar, a Board member responsible for administration, legal affairs, and HR at PJSC Kyiv CPM, were present.
During the meeting, Iurii Golovchenko briefed Ambassador Benkö about the state of affairs at KCPM and the achievements in the first nine months of 2023. He also highlighted the current challenges the enterprise faces, particularly the ongoing pressure from law enforcement agencies. Of particular concern was the preparation for the heating season in Obukhiv, which is currently underway amid difficulties due to delayed compensatory payments from the state to PJSC “Energia” for differences in heat tariffs for consumers. It was stressed, however, that the plant’s shareholders are fully aware of their responsibility to the local community in ensuring the timely and systematic provision of heat to the housing in Obukhiv during the 2023-2024 heating season.
Timur Sokolov discussed a recent decision regarding investments in the development of Kyiv CPM, outlining plans to allocate approximately 12 million euros for the enterprise’s modernization in the near future. During the meeting, Ambassador Arad Benkö received an invitation to attend ceremonial events in honor of the paper industry workers’ professional holiday and to participate in the distribution of humanitarian aid, which will soon be delivered from KCPM to our defenders, hospitals, and the Ukrainian citizens who currently need our support the most.
