Kyiv CPM keeps doing good deeds: eco-projects, community support, gratitude to defenders

Nowadays, a conscious business means support and help those in need. Amid the war, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill has become a reliable pillar of support for society, the economy, and the local community. A company with European investments (owned by Pulp Mill Holding, Austria) adheres to the values of environmental sustainability, social responsibility and humanism, donating hundreds of millions of hryvnias to charity annually.

The European approach of KCPM means not only paying taxes and fees in full, but also uniting the community around humanitarian projects. This is the fundamental position of the mill`s Austrian owner. According to Dr. Heinz Zinner, director and beneficiary of PMH, in a tough period for Ukraine, caring for the vulnerable, protecting the environment, and supporting the defenders are three integral components of the company`s social responsibility.

KCPM: billions of contributions to the budget, charity and help to people

Last year, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill transferred over UAH 1.5 billion in mandatory payments to budgets of various levels, and donated about UAH 100 million to charity on its own initiative.

The company provides hygienic products to internally displaced persons, affected communities, clinics and hospitals in the frontline regions every week. It also directly contributes to the rescue of people by holding traditional Donor Days.

Welfare of people is an absolute priority of Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill`s charity activities

A company means not only equipment, but first and foremost a team of motivated like-minded people, emphasizes Dr. Zinner. Kyiv CPM has its own outpatient clinic, health insurance system, sports complex, and canteen with affordable prices. One of the key incentives is competitive salaries. In light of the challenging economic environment in Ukraine, KCPM regularly reviews the level of remuneration, especially for working specialties. In addition, those who were called up for military service, about 10% of employees today, not only retain their jobs and positions at the mill, but also receive monthly financial assistance in the amount of their average salary. During the war, this amount reached almost UAH 150 million. Unfortunately, there are also those who have fallen: seventeen employees of the mill have laid down their lives for Ukraine so that others can live in a free country and children have the opportunity to attend school.

The moral support from Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill team is as important as the material support to the soldiers

On the occasion of the Knowledge Day, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill initiated a creative event “We are grateful to the Defenders for the New School Year” in the schools of Obukhiv and the district.

“In addition to drawings for the soldiers, the children handed over many postcards and letters, hundreds of handmade mascots, which were made with love. We promise that the soldiers will receive expression of gratitude as soon as possible along with humanitarian aid from our company,” said Oleksandr Remeniuk, Chairman of the Board of the Charitable Fund “Kartonnyk”.

Under the guidance of KCPM the local community eagerly joins in with environmental projects

“The idea of sustainable use of resources is the basis of our environmental strategy, which we have been following for almost half a century,” said the representative of Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill.

According to the owner, Dr. Heinz Zinner, environmental care is one of the key pillars of the industrial company`s work amid the war and unprecedented environmental pollution. The mill constantly modernizes its production lines and initiates public educational campaigns. In particular, the company plans to organize an eco-quest for schoolchildren in Obukhivskyi district and collect waste paper from schoolchildren and citizens, which has a dual purpose: environmental protection and charity. All the raised funds will be used to purchase fuel to heat educational institutions in winter.
