The company organized an eco-quest for children on the occasion of the Town Day
It is possible to turn Obukhiv into a garden town if children are nurtured with environmental values from an early age. This is the opinion of the owner and management of Kyiv CPM. On the occasion of the Town Day, the management of mill initiated a quest that taught schoolers to take care of the environment, sort waste properly and plant trees in an interesting and accessible way.
Every year, on the third Sunday of September, Obukhiv celebrates its birthday. As a budget-forming enterprise, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill (owned by Pulp Mill Holding, Austria) did not stand aside and joined the large-scale celebration for schoolchildren. The eco-quest organized by Kyiv CPM brought together 60 schoolers from six educational institutions of the town.

Dr Heinz Zinner, Director of PMH, emphasizes that respect for both nature and the community is the world`s No.1 trend in the industry today. Therefore, the initiators of the event primarily aimed to give children positive emotions in difficult wartime and at the same time promote European practices of environmental care.

“As a large production enterprise, Kyiv CPM is worried about the situation around us. Therefore, on the occasion of the birthday of Obukhiv, where we all live and work, we decided to give the citizens a holiday that would be remembered by both children and adults. We wish everyone unity, peace, goodness and comfort. Take care of yourselves and our common home!” said Iurii Golovchenko, Chairman of the Board of PJSC Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill.

The first trees in the park area were symbolically planted together by Iurii Golovchenko, CEO of Kyiv CPM, Larysa Ilyenko, Secretary of the Obukhiv Town Council, and Mykola Kravchuk, Head of the Obukhiv District State Administration. Later, each of the quest participants could join the creation of a new park as part of the competition.
“It is symbolic that two holidays coincide today – the 662nd anniversary of our town and the Day of Peace. I am very grateful to Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill, which takes an active part in the life of Obukhiv. Thanks to the mill, our town is flourishing, and children have the opportunity to participate in such exciting and useful events. I wish everyone peace, harmony and victory!” said Larysa Ilienko.
Mykola Kravchuk, Head of the Obukhiv District State Administration, thanked the owner`s representatives, management and employees for their ongoing active support of the town and district.
The management of Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill believes that holding environmental awareness campaigns is an investment in the future of the community
At each of the six locations (stations: “Fishing, Ecogarden, Safari, Sorting, Zoo and Eco-Knowledge”), the children were greeted by instructors who offered interesting quizzes and tasks on environmental topics. As part of the quest, schoolers discovered more about the flora and fauna of their native land in a playful way, learned how to sort waste properly and even planted trees by themselves.
According to the representatives of the educational community, the eco-quest became a highlight of this year`s celebration of the Town Day. Therefore, on behalf of all children, parents and teachers, they expressed their sincere gratitude to Kyiv CPM for holding the event.
“Your contribution is invaluable, as it not only helps to protect the environment, but also helps to educate the younger generation to have a responsible attitude towards nature. We are grateful to Kyiv CPM and Pulp Mill Holding, represented by Dr Zinner, for this initiative and their active participation in the development of our community. Thanks to your help, schoolchildren have the opportunity not only to learn more about the environment, but also to directly contribute to the greening of their hometown,” said Elena Kolomiyets, Head of the Education Department of the Executive Committee of the Obukhiv Town Council.
