The mill`s charitable projects reach hundreds of organizations and thousands of people across the country
Socially responsible businesses in Ukraine not only hold the economic front in difficult times of war, but also lend a helping hand to those in need. A striking example is Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill PJSC that consistently supports the military, volunteers, hospitals, local communities, and people in difficult circumstances – investing millions of hryvnias into charitable initiatives. The company`s special commission and the Kartonnyk charitable foundation have always responded to requests for assistance. Since 2022, this work has become continuous, as the number of appeals – and accordingly the budget – has significantly increased.
On October 1, when the country celebrates the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill emphasizes that true charity is ongoing help. Every week, the company holds commission meetings, where applications are received from military units, medical institutions, NGO`s, foundations, and citizens. And almost every day, shipments of essential goods leave Obukhiv headed to those who need support most.
The good deeds of the Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill in numbers: almost UAH 5 million in less than 9 months
As of the end of September 2025, the total amount of aid from the company in monetary equivalent is approaching UAH 5 million. Roughly one-third of these funds is directed specifically toward supporting Ukraine`s defenders.
The rest of the support was distributed among charitable foundations and NGO`s that care for displaced persons and socially vulnerable groups. In addition, Kyiv CPM sends humanitarian aid directly to medical facilities and rehabilitation centers and provides targeted assistance to individual citizens.
The scope of the mill`s charitable efforts is evident:
- almost 80,000 packages (or more than 3.5 million rolls) of toilet paper;
- more than 50,000 packages of paper towels and the same number of napkins;
- about 20,000 corrugated boxes;
- over 1,200 corrugated cardboard beds;
- almost 190 cubic water tanks;
- dozens of tons of cardboard and raw materials for volunteer facilities.
These figures represent more than just financial reporting. They represent thousands of packages of toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and corrugated furniture improve living conditions in hospitals, schools, and shelters. These are dozens of tons of vital consumables, water tanks and furniture that help provide basic comfort for soldiers on the frontline.
Corrugated beds and cardboard furniture: a symbol of Kyiv CPM`s care
In recent years, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill has donated tens of thousands of pieces of corrugated cardboard furniture to the frontline and conflict-affected regions. This year alone, the mill has provided over 1,200 transformable beds. Each item bears a special marking: “Not for Sale”, a clear reminder that these goods are made solely to provide aid.

The corrugated furniture produced by Kyiv CPM is lightweight, easy to transport, and durable. These beds are in high demand not only in blindages and military outposts, but also in hospitals, shelters, and accommodations for internally displaced persons.
“Comfortable cardboard beds and furniture have become a symbol of our support, as they provide a sense of home even in the most challenging conditions,” emphasize the company`s representatives.
In addition, since October 2022, when Ukraine faced the first wave of large-scale blackouts, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill has been regularly purchasing paraffin needed to produce trench candles. This year alone, over 50 kg of this critically important material have been delivered to volunteers.
People come first: Kyiv CPM cares for its thousands of employees
As of today, out of more than 2,500 employees, one in ten serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other defense units. On its own initiative and with the support of its Austrian owner, Pulp Mill Holding, led by Dr. Heinz Zinner, the mill has kept their jobs and continues to provide monthly payments equivalent to their average salary. Kyiv CPM`s trade union also assists mobilized employees and their military units with the procurement of equipment, medicines, and other necessary supplies.
In addition, in 2025, more than UAH 700,000 was allocated for employee medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Blood and its components are of immeasurable value: Kyiv CPM regularly holds donor days
Another aspect of Kyiv CPM`s charitable work, which the company proudly highlights, is collective blood donation. Even before the full-scale invasion, Donor Days had become a voluntary tradition at the mill, reflecting its European values of humanitarianism and social responsibility. After February 2022, this noble initiative became even more urgent and meaningful.

During a single Donor Day in July of this year, 130 employees donated nearly 60 liters of blood, setting a new record.
Kyiv CPM sets an Example: socially responsible business is not just production, but humanity
Through its own charitable foundation, Kartonnyk, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill continues to support hundreds of organizations and thousands of people across the country. From toilet paper to corrugated beds, from paraffin for candles to equipment – every hryvnia of aid contributes to a larger humanitarian mission.
“We know for certain that charity is not about one-time actions. It is a systematic effort that saves lives and eases daily challenges for those who need support the most,” emphasized Olena Potapova, the Head of Kyiv CPM`s Kartonnyk charitable foundation.
