Social Responsibility: Kyiv CPM reports on the results of humanitarian work in the first half of 2024

“We work for a common victory and support the community”: in a difficult period for Ukraine, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill (KCPM) is actively implementing charity projects alongside its production activities.

Charity is an important social practice that is especially important in times of war and economic upheaval. Being a company with European capital and values, KCPM provides constant material, financial and organisational support to those who need it most of all. Recently, the company summed up the results of humanitarian activities for the first half of 2024: during this period, about UAH 3 million was allocated for good deeds.

“The war has been going on in the country for three years. As a socially responsible company, we cannot stand aside. Since the mill is already a well-known charity provider, we receive more and more requests from the military, volunteer organisations, hospitals, educational institutions, etc. We register, check and review all these requests at weekly scheduled meetings of the commission. Taking into account our capabilities, we try to support as many applicants as possible,” explained Oleksandr Remeniuk, Chairman of the Board of the Charitable Fund “Kartonnyk”.

The list of products delivered over the past six months includes more than 131000 units of hygiene products, 9700 containers for transporting humanitarian kits, 395 pieces of corrugated cardboard furniture, 650 kg of paraffin for trench candles, cube containers, technical appliances, thermal underwear, etc. The mill delivers these goods with its partner, Nova Poshta.

Among the receiving organisations are 60 charitable foundations, 27 NGOs, 14 medical institutions, 8 educational institutions, 6 territorial communities and more than 50 other receivers.  The assistance provided by KCPM covers almost all regions of Ukraine: the frontline Odeska, Mykolaivska, Khersonska and Donetska oblasts, the relocated communities of Luhansk, as well as the central and western regions that have received the most IDPs.

Many projects are implemented in Kyiv, where the country’s leading medical institutions are located: The Heart Institute, Shalimov Surgery Institute, Ambulance Clinic, Central Military Hospital, etc. The company sent a large batch of sanitary products to Okhmatdet hospital and Children`s Hospital No. 1, where young patients were transferred after the missile attack. In Dnipro, the company is supporting Mechnikov Hospital, which is treating seriously wounded soldiers.

As the Chairman of the Board of the Charitable Fund “Kartonnyk” emphasizes that the priority today is to support our defenders. Currently, about 350 employees of the mill and its subsidiaries are defending the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: on its own initiative, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill pays them salaries and supports the families of defenders.

The cubic plastic containers for industrial water and corrugated beds produced at the mill are in great demand in the field environment. Paraffin wax and corrugated cardboard are also in great demand for making trench candles.

“This is people`s help. The community of Obukhivskyi district, volunteers and our team have been involved in the candle production project to the fullest extent possible. Another important area in which the team is involved is holding traditional Donor Days: since the start of the full-scale war, we have already collected about 300 litres of blood. Our strength is in unity, because only together we can achieve incredible results,” said Oleksandr Remeniuk. Based on the material of mind
