Ukrainian manufacturers face many daily challenges in wartime. The stable activity of enterprises provides jobs and supports the country`s economy. However, this is no longer enough, as the Ukrainian frontline and people who are in difficult life circumstances due to the military actions also need support. Thus, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill, a leader in the pulp and paper industry, has been actively involved in charity since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and even developed an exclusive product for humanitarian needs – corrugated cardboard beds.
NOT JUST PRODUCTION…
In the Kyiv region, the “kartonazhka”, as the locals often call Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill, is known not only as the best paper manufacturer of sanitary products, including the well-known Obukhiv 65 toilet paper, but also as the largest charity provider. The company, with the consent of the owner, carries out systematic work in this sphere, implementing dozens of humanitarian projects aimed at supporting the Obukhiv town, where its main production facilities are based, and other communities in Ukraine that have suffered the most from the war.
Kyiv CPM RESPONDED TO THE DEMAND WITH AN OFFER
In the winter of 2022, when an enemy offensive began, the Charity Aid Commission at Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill started working intensively and held weekly meetings. The company`s priority is targeted support, so they carefully studied the needs of people in difficult situations.

Corrugated cardboard beds from the Kyiv CPM in Kharkiv underground
In Kharkiv underground, people were sleeping on the cold floor, shelters, as in many other regions, were not properly equipped – it was necessary to act. So, the idea of creating corrugated cardboard furniture came up. The durable, environmentally friendly and safe material produced by the Obukhiv mill made it possible to make quite functional temporary beds and stools that significantly improved the conditions in shelters, emergent hostels and soldiers` blindages.

AUSTRIAN INVESTMENTS BY OWNER DR HEINZ ZINNER – THE BASE FOR DEVELOPMENT
The implementation of social support programs for both Kyiv CPM employees and the entire population of Ukraine is impossible without the sustainable operation of the enterprise, which needs to provide a financial base. Today, investors are not willing to invest in domestic enterprises, but Dr Heinz Zinner, Austrian citizen and ultimate beneficial owner of Kyiv CPM, is convinced of the need to support Ukrainian business, not only for its sustenance but also for its development.

ON THE THRESHOLD OF ONE MORE WINTER OF WAR
Weekly requests for help, regardless of the season, contain a constant list of the most necessary items:
– a full range of sanitary products;
– corrugated cardboard beds;
– cubic containers for drinking water.
As winter is approaching, corrugated cardboard furniture and paraffin wax for making trench candles are at the top of the list.
BEDS MADE OF CORRUGATED CARDBOARD FROM KYIV CPM ARE IN DEMAND AMONG THE MILITARY
Every week, transformer beds suitable for transportation are used to complete charity shipments that are awaited in clinics and hospitals, children`s educational institutions, shelters for internally displaced persons and places of our defenders` deployment. Over the past three years, the mill has donated tens of thousands of corrugated board units made with love and care with unpretentious but meaningful “not for sale” marking on the packaging.
