Synergy of partnership is the basis of effective charity work of Kyiv CPM in wartime

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the life of every Ukrainian has changed dramatically. Big business was also affected by the forced transformations. Today it is hard to imagine a socially responsible company that does not have projects aimed at supporting the Ukrainian army and people suffering from the hostilities. Over the past two years, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill (KCPM) of the Austrian Pulp Mill Holding, whose ultimate beneficial owner is Dr. Heinz Zinner, has been steadily providing its humanitarian assistance.

Changes start with us

After the de-occupation of Kyivska oblast and the reveal of the truth about the committed hostile crimes, the mill carried out several first humanitarian missions to the affected areas.

At the same time, the committee for reviewing applications for assistance, which had previously worked as required, started to hold meetings weekly, as the enterprise has received a large number of applications.

Since then, we have provided various types of assistance worth about UAH 15 million.

Unconventional collaborations for a common goal

The charity partnerships that have been established over the years are of particular value, as they help the enterprise to be sure that the assistance provided by the mill will reach the recipients.

Olena Malysheva, director of the charity organization “Unconquered Ukraine 24.02”:

– We have been cooperating with Kyiv CPM for 3 years. Their products are expected in Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital, Recovery Rehabilitation Center, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital for War Veterans, Feofaniya Hospital, and medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia. We also help an orphanage in Chernihiv and take care of children without parental care who were evacuated from Kharkivska oblast to the village of Nahuyevychi in Lvivska oblast.
Almost every week we prepare shipments to military units.
Our organization is grateful to have such a powerful and responsible charity partner. Together we are doing a common important work.

Oleksiy Zhurba, director of the “Homeless World” Charitable Foundation, founder of the civil-military center for rescue, evacuation and rehabilitation of disabled animals “Hostages of War”:

– Our mission is to help sick and injured animals. For this purpose, we have two centers, one in Bila Tserkva and the other in the village of Kizomys, Khersonska oblast, which is currently in the “zero zone”. Paper towels are especially valuable for us, as they are used in operating rooms and for bedding for difficult patients. We know that KCPM receives many requests from various organizations, so we are especially grateful that they paid attention to us. Now we receive regular support from the mill.

Vladyslav Petrov, representative of the Charitable Foundation “Eleon Ukraine”:

– The main mission of our organization is to prevent starvation. We have a large and powerful team of 100-120 people. Our focus is on Irpin and Bucha communities, the latter one currently hosts about 9.5 thousand IDPs under our care. Large retailers help us with food, but for packaging the consumer kits, Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill boxes are the best. Durable corrugated cardboard packaging can withstand transportation, and all its contents remain undamaged. We are extremely grateful.

Focus on mobilized colleagues

Every 10th employee of KCPM is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The trade union organization of the mill is in constant contact with the employees who are serving, knows about their needs, provides equipment on individual requests, and supports the wounded.

The company decided to maintain the average salary for mobilized people. Over 2 years, about UAH 100 million has been paid.

Today, tens of thousands of people are involved in the humanitarian sector, and they are a reliable support for those who hold the frontline and those who suffer the most from the war. Socially responsible business cannot stand aside, it must always be reliable support of the volunteering front. Every day, our reality proves how many good deeds can be realized in a successful partnership.
